Proud of Bucks Award photo

Something to be proud of

We were absolutely delighted to receive a Proud of Bucks “Highly Commended” award recognising our service to the community in this hugely difficult year.

We’re very proud to have received this and I hope all our staff, volunteers and customers are proud of the part they play in helping to make our service as successful, safe and accessible as possible. We really appreciate all your support and I think I’d happily describe you all as Public Service Heroes.

We’ll put this award alongside the Tom Hillier Award we received at the end of 2018 which recognised us as the best shopmobility scheme in the country.

High Street Disruption from 28th Sept for 12 weeks

Transport for Buckinghamshire will be commencing maintenance works in the High Street to correct loose and uneven paving that can cause trip hazards.

The works are due to commence w/c Monday 28 September 2020 and will last for approximately 12 weeks. Site working hours will be from 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday with perhaps some weekend and night working on areas that cannot be worked on during normal hours.

Some of the repair works required will affect the running lane of the carriageway, and will necessitate reducing High Street access between Corporation Street and Market Square, to enable areas of the stone paving to be re-laid/repaired more efficiently. See the map in the shop for details.

Card & contactless payments

We are really pleased to say that, thanks to a grant from Heart of Bucks, we now have the right equipment to take card and contactless payments for our manual wheelchair hire service (which costs £3 per night/£20 per week + £20 refundable deposit)

We are also able to accept card payments for donations and for the items such as blue badge holders and radar keys we have for sale.

2020 Pancake Race!

Thank you to all 12 teams that took part in our annual Pancake Race in the Eden Shopping Centre on Shrove Tuesday 25th February. We were delighted to raise £190 from entrance fees and would like to say a very grateful thank you for the kind donations made by Intel and the High Wycombe Beekeepers. This brings the total raised to well over £300. After a bit of controversy, we are pleased to award the David Griffin trophy to the 2020 winners – Eden Security!

Town and Eden Centre Collections

We were really grateful for the support we received for our Town Centre and Eden Centre Collections at the end of July. A large number of our customers and volunteers gave up some of their time to raise funds for our charity. Our town centre collection raised £142 and our Eden Centre collection raised £384 – every penny will help run our service – thank you!

Thank you to all that helped and contributed to our collection held at Tescos in June. Generous shoppers donated a grand total of £446 in our collection buckets which will all go towards providing our free service to those that need it.

25th birthday cake

Happy 25th Birthday Shopmobility!

Shopmobility hosted a fabulous party on 15th June to celebrate our 25th birthday with many of the people that have helped create the successful service we are today.

Chairman, Alan Switalski, gave the celebration speech, outlining the difference that Shopmobility has made in Wycombe over its 25 years: helping over 6500 people with customers spending over £10 million pounds in the town.

We’ve demolished our 2018 £5,000 fundraising goal!

Thanks to everyone’s generosity in 2018 we have exceeded our fundraising goal of £5000 for the year – reaching an impressive £5968 by the end of December.

We are particularly grateful to those who bought tickets in our Christmas Raffle as this raised over £1,150, to those who bought our Christmas Cards raising £178 and to those who contributed to our bag packing collection at Waitrose 2 days before Christmas where £600 was raised. Thank you.

With rising costs and the uncertainty around Brexit this year we are raising our hopes for 2019 and would like to ask for your support to reach a fundraising goal of £6,000 this year. This will help keep our free service running for anyone who needs it into the years to come.

Thank you for your support.
