Smile.Amazon – donate to Shopmobility while you shop

If you use Amazon you can now get exactly the same shopping experience and access your account through Smile Amazon BUT a percentage of the profits will be donated to High Wycombe Shopmobility! Login via this link using your usual account email/ password, select us as the cause that you would like to support and this will be saved for future purchases. We will then receive a donation whenever you buy any eligible products.

This only works using the “Smile” Amazon page not the normal homepage but all of your account details remain exactly the same and remain private. We are really grateful for any donations to help support our small, friendly charity. Thank you

Volunteering Roles Autumn/Winter 2018 – we need your help

Do you have a few hours to spare each week? Would you like to join a happy, friendly team and give back to the community?

We currently have vacancies for Customer Service Volunteers to join our team. The role is to assist and support the member of staff on duty with providing the Shopmobility service to our customers.

High Wycombe Shopmobility offers a happy, friendly volunteering environment with a “feel good” factor – our volunteers enjoy having a chat with our customers, find helping people worthwhile and go home feeling valued. There are opportunities to use existing experience and skills and to gain new ones – which may be beneficial for CV/career progression.

Shopmobility are very pleased to feature in the October newsletter of The Bucks Older Peoples Action Group (BOPAG). The newsletter can be found here.

They are an independent, non-political, voluntary organisation made up of representatives from groups around the county and interested individuals who’s core message is “Positive Ageing” and have set up their website as a directory to help provide older people with information which supports them to lead healthy, active and independent lives. Their web address, for a wealth of useful local information, is www.bopag.org.uk

 

New Directory of Shopmobility Schemes

A new directory of all the shopmobility schemes around the UK has been published and is available from our office for £3 to buy or an office copy is available to browse.

Amongst useful information about the different schemes around the country, it contains details of a new registration scheme for mobility scooters and a lovely write up about High Wycombe Shopmobility as we were nominated for the 2016 Tom Hillier Award.

 

Volunteer - make a difference

Volunteers needed

We have a dedicated team of volunteers at Shopmobility who give some of their time to help us help more people and help us extend what we can do such as enabling us to meet people from their bus, taxi or their car with a scooter or wheelchair.

Current volunteer opportunities

We are looking for somebody who would like to volunteer with us for the following:

  • Customer Service Volunteers

Tuesdays/ Wednesdays, mornings or afternoons.

It would ideally suit someone who would like to gain some experience in a customer service or caring environment to enhance their skills or who would like to do something to help in our community.

The role is varied and involves assisting our customers with mobility scooters and wheelchairs, taking bookings, helping to update and maintain our booking processes and helping look after our vehicle fleet.

  • Leaflet delivery Volunteers

We are looking for people who can help us find homes for our leaflets to help more people find out about our service and who can help replenish them every so often.

We would love to hear from you if you have got a few hours to spare and have got ideas about where we could display our leaflets
